YPC Giving raised £5k for Gift of Sight in association with Corhampton Golf

Published by Simon Shankland

Hey guys,

On the 12th of September YPC Giving (part of YPC Group) major sponsored aProAm golfing charity event raising money for the Gift of Sight charity.

The Gift of Sight, is a charity organisation that fights to raise awareness and practices immense research for kids and adults who are suffering from life long eye infections and diseases. This charity is very close to heart of one of our clients, Alex Miller. Alex is involved with the Corhampton Golf club and was keen to use his position to raise money for the charity. Due to financial restraints and market conditions the Corhampton Golf club had not had a Pro Am golf day for 5 years! Alex approached me for help. For all of you who know me, I'm always very keen to try and improve my golf game! Brett and I had talked for years about having our own charity golf day. Now we could finally do it and help out a client along the way. Win win!

I (that's me in the pic with the golf club up there) attended and presented a 'massive' cheque of £5k on behalf of YPC Group (literally massive! - see the picture below) to sponsor prizes for the golf professionals taking part. The goal was with their support we could raise even more money on the day for the charity.

The event was a massive success! We had over 30 4 man teams competing on the day, each team consisting of a PGA professional. Big thanks must go out to Alex and Jeanette Miller, Ailsa Walter, the Corhampton Golf club, Hampshire County Golf, Jo and Fam from YPC Giving for organising such a fantastic event! They even turned a cloudy morning into a sunny day!

Next year we are looking to build on the success of this years event. As well as the Pro Am day we will have a YPC society day to cater for amateur golfers. We'll also be involving developers and other companies that we work with.

Shortly after the event, the MD of the Gift of Sight, Andrew Lotery - Professor of Ophthalmology sent us a letter of thanks!

Here's what he had to say: 'This is a tremendous sum and please accept my personal thanks for your considerable input to the Gift of Sight Appeal. Your assistance in very much appreciated by myself and my team in the research laboratory.'

Corhampton Golf club organised this ProAm Golf Tournament charity event to raise money and awareness for the Gift of Sight. And besides YPC sponsoring on the day, there where approximately 140 professional golfers that took part on the day. Check out the Gift of Sight Gallery where you get to see who took part and what they donated.

By the end of the event, ProAm raised a total of £7,500 and presented the check to Ailsa to accept on behalf of Gift of Sight. To add to the success of the event, there where a few other individual cheques that came through, totalling the amount raised to a huge £8,500.

If you do want to get involved in next years event, please do get in touch. Just email us on info@ypc-group.com, or drop us a comment in the box below.

Happy golfing!
